Wednesday, May 13

Hello Friends!

Are you ready to find out what our Third Grade Field Day team name is!? I will tell you, it was a VERY close vote. In fact, it came down to two choices, and Mrs. Bryant (and her family) were called in to make the tie-breaking decision! You'll have to join us for our Zoom hangout session to find out the final results!

We have prepared a fun game that we are going to try today so you will need a pencil and a piece of paper. We look forward to seeing you all at 12:00.

Here are your distance learning goals for today.

Reading
Great work everyone on the mystery unit! Thanks for sending in all of your responses and work during the unit. I hope you found a new genre that you enjoy reading!

For reading today, please log into Headsprout. You will notice that you now have a Raz Kids account on that website, too! Today, I'd like you to go into the books in Raz Kids and choose a book on your leveled shelf. ðŸ¦‰Read the book, and also use the RECORD button at the top of the screen to record yourself reading the story. We will be able to hear your recording so we can check in on your fluency!

Please let us know if you have any problems. Remember you an email us at 3rdgrade@brownschool.org.

Afterward, you can use the rest of the reading time to continue to do free reading (or mystery books). Please fill out the ðŸ¦‰Reading Log Form after you finish so that we can be kept up-to-date with what awesome books you are reading!

Writing
Please watch the instructional video on ode poetry. ðŸ¦‰ Use the outline shown below to write 2 different ode poems.

Math
For math today, please watch this video of Lesson 5 where you will see Mr. Duane talking you through the main idea of the lesson. Today you will be working with measurement. After watching the video, try playing with the GeoGebra website that Mr. Duane talked about. You can get to it by clicking HERE. See if you can measure the lines!

Next, please complete the ðŸ¦‰HOMEWORK PAGES. You can't do the Problem Set since you need your peers for that. I will post the answers to the Homework tomorrow.  If you finish with extra time, you can play Reflex or Zearn.

Here are the answers for Lesson 4 problem set:

Grammar
🦉Today you'll be learning about 3 little words called articles. Read the LEARN section on page 124, then complete parts A, B, C and D (pages 124-127).
