 😀Happy Birthday Ava! 😀

Hello Flying Phoenixes!

We hope you had a wonderful weekend!

Today is the first day of Spirit Week! We hope you are showing your Brown School spirit and wearing your Brown School clothing or colors! Remember, tomorrow will be Superhero Day!

If you haven't already gathered your supplies for our Virtual Field day on Friday, please visit Mrs. Cooper's website to check out what you need. She has a great video that walks you through everything, and she tells you what you can substitute if you don't have the exact materials on the list.

SCHEDULE CHANGE FOR TODAY: Due to an important meeting, we will be unable to host our 10:45 Zoom Help Session.

Here are your distance learning goals for today.

Reading
Before you get to your reading task for today, I want you to think of your FAVORITE book that you read this year in third grade. It could be something you read on your own, or a book that a teacher read to you. You should pick a novel, and not a picture book.

Do you have your book in mind? Great! Let's see what you will do next.

Please find the "Book Review - Brainstorming Sheet" that was sent home. The brainstorming sheet is 2 pages (front and back I think?) You will fill out that sheet... no need for complete sentences. This is just a place for you to take notes and write down your ideas. You'll be writing everything in proper sentences over the next few days so that you can prepare to share it with us in a Zoom Meeting!

If you have time when you are done with your brainstorming sheet, you can use the rest of the reading time to continue to do free reading. Please fill out the 🦉Reading Log Form after you finish so that we can be kept up-to-date with what awesome books you are reading!

Writing
🦉As always, today we will write our Weekend Web entry with 5-8 strong sentences about your weekend. Remember to use details including what you did, how you felt, who was with you, and more.  We would love to hear you share these writing pieces during our Wednesday Zoom meetup.

Math
For math today, please watch this video of Module 7 Lesson 3 where you will see Mr. Duane talking you through the main idea of the lesson. Today you'll continue using that RDW process, and you'll be trying many different ways you can solve a problem to stretch your math brain! Again, drawing a picture is an awesome strategy!

🦉After watching the video, please work on the problem set... but there is a change! I want you to pick 3 of the problems... any 3 that you want. Complete all 3. Then, I want you to see if you can find  DIFFERENT strategies to solve two of those problems. Yes, that is right... you'll be solving the same problem TWICE! It is a great way to check your work. If you got the same answer both times, you're probably correct!

If you would like extra practice, you can do the other problems, or challenge yourself to find more ways to solve some of the problems after you've finished them once.

I will post the answers to the problem set tomorrow. You do not need to do the homework unless you'd like some extra practice. If you finish with extra time, you can play Reflex or Zearn.

Here are the answers for Lesson 2 problem set:

Social Studies
Today you will fill in the map of Nigeria.  First, watch the video then copy the information below onto your map.
