Hello Awesome Third Graders!
Welcome to another week of online learning! We hope you had a fantastic weekend and got out to enjoy the beautiful spring weather! Here are your distance learning goals for today.
Reading
Now that you've finished learning about how to read mystery stories, you'll try reading some short mysteries on your own this week! We sent you a bunch of mysteries in the mail, so today you'll want to find the one titled The Lost Ring.
First, do the "Before Reading" section. Next, read the story, paying attention to all of the things you learned about reading mysteries over the last few weeks. When you are done reading, answer the questions. Last, return to the first page and finish the "After Reading" section. We will post the answers to the question page tomorrow.
Afterward, you can use the rest of the reading time to continue to do free reading (or mystery books). Please fill out the Reading Log Form after you finish so that we can be kept up-to-date with what awesome books you are reading!
Writing
Please start by writing a Weekend Web entry with 5-8 strong sentences about your weekend. Remember to use details including what you did, how you felt, who was with you, and more. We would love to hear you share these writing pieces during our Wednesday Zoom meetup.
Math
For math today, please watch this video of Lesson 29 where you will see Mr. Duane talking you through the main idea of the lesson. Today you will continue comparing fractions with the same numerator After watching the video, please complete the problem set. I will post the answers to the problem set tomorrow. You do not need to do the homework unless you'd like some extra practice. If you finish with extra time, you can play Reflex or Zearn.
Here are the answers for Lesson 28 problem set:
Science
Today we will be learning about camouflage. First, you will watch the video. You will need to log in.
username mcgann4
password eagles4
Then you will complete the writing prompt "Camouflage is helpful to animals because..."
Cursive
Please do pages 70 and 71 in your cursive book. It is usually easier to copy words that are already written in cursive, which is what you will do on page 70. On page 71, you'll need to remember how to form each letter AND how they connect to each other.
For the spelling list on the right, let's try words having to do with mysteries! 1. red (like a red herring) 2. book 3. clue 4. hidden 5. suspect 6. motive 7. witness 8. mystery
If you'd like to see how to write each word is written, you can watch this video where I guide you through each word.
