Thursday, April 23rd

Good Morning friends!
It was great to see you yesterday and to hear how you've been doing. You are an incredible group of students and I am SO proud of your hard work especially during these different times. Hopefully, if you weren't able to get outside and enjoy Earth Day yesterday (I know it was cold and snowing?! at my house) you'll be able to spend some time doing something outside. Here are your distance learning goals for today.
Reading:
For reading today, please listen to a short mystery book called Nate the Great and the Lost List. You might be familiar with the Nate the Great books, they are a somewhat funny, short read that I hope you will enjoy! You will listen to the whole book today and you can find the link for that here. While you are listening, please think about and compare this mystery book to, The Absent Author, and think about what are the similarities and differences between the two stories?

Afterward, you can use the rest of the reading time to continue to do free reading (or mystery books). Please fill out the Reading Log Form after you finish so that I can be kept up-to-date with what awesome books you are reading!

Math:
For math today, please watch this video of Lesson 22 where you will see Mr. Duane talking you through the main idea of the lesson. Today you are going to be plotting equivalent fractions on a number line. After watching the video, please complete the problem set. I will post the answers to the problem set tomorrow. You do not need to do the homework unless you'd like some extra practice. If you finish with extra time, you can play Reflex or Zearn.

Here are the answers for Lesson 21 problem set:

If you tried the math challenge from yesterday, here are the answers for that:

Science:
Today, please log in to Studies Weekly and read the week 5 Health Magazine about "Healthy Communication." Remember that you can answer the comprehension questions at the end of each article so that you can earn points for your Rev the Rat!

Social Studies:
Lastly, I would like you to listen to Second Step Lesson 18. You can find the link for that here. Today you will hear how the two boys decide to finish the problem-solving steps and reach an agreement about how to use the swing that is fair for everyone. As you listen, please be thinking about areas that these skills can connect to in your own life either at school or at home.
